Transition from 6th Grade to 7th Grade

Dear Parents/Guardians of children going into 7th Grade

On behalf of the Children & Family Ministry staff and volunteers, I want to tell you that it’s been a joy ministering to your child over the years.  Your child is getting ready to pass a big Milestone in their life as they leave elementary school to enter junior high school.

We want you to know our plan to help the students (and their parents) transition from Children’s Ministry to Firehouse Student Ministry.

We handle the promotion of 6th graders to Student Ministry differently for Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

Your child will stay with Children’s Ministry in their 6th grade Sunday School class until our Promotion Sunday in August. We will give you the exact Sunday this promotion will occur as the date changes with each calendar year.

On promotion Sunday, your child will transition to Firehouse. Firehouse offers a 9:30 or 11am Sunday School class. All students meet upstairs and then break-up into small groups. Please note once students enter middle school, you do not need to check them in or out.

You have two options for your student on Wednesday nights:

If you want your child to stay with Children’s Ministry for Ignite on Wednesday Nights, they can stay with us until the start of the new school year.  They will need to start attending Firehouse on Wednesday nights once the new school year starts.

Some families opt to use the Summer between 6th and 7th grades as an opportunity for their children to experience Firehouse and ease the transition from elementary school to junior high school. If you want your child to start attending Firehouse during the Summer, you are welcome to let them start meeting with Pastor Rob and his staff the first Wednesday after the school year ends.

At Firehouse on Wednesday nights, 7th-12th grade students meet from 6-8pm to have fun and worship God through games, fellowship, praise and worship, and preaching of the Word of God.

Back to School Bash

At the beginning of the new school year in August, Pastor Rob will have an open house for all new students and their parents.  This will allow families to get to know Pastor Rob and his Firehouse Team.

Pastor Rob is our Student Ministry Pastor and truly loves kids and more importantly, loves the Lord.  He wants to use Firehouse as a tool to help teach your child to be a passionate worshipper and follower of Christ and he would love for you to come by and check out the Student Ministry.

As with anything we do here at FBCMI with your children, we see our role as supplementing you as the primary spiritual influence in your child’s life.  If you have any questions regarding the transition to Firehouse Student Ministry, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
To God be the glory,
