A STORY OF SHARING - TED AND DONNA BADGER INTERVIEW

Mark Lewis: "In addition to serving on the missions team, Ted Badger was instrumental in starting a brand new coed Sunday School class with his wife, Donna, along with Lee and Robin Severance at the 9:30 hour. I so much appreciate both Ted and Lee who stepped into service at a critical time to help us balance our Sunday School class offerings by starting a new class and by connecting with new people I have sent their way as prospects."

Following is an interview with the Badgers:

FBCMI: How did you find FBCMI and how long have you attended?
A major part of our retirement plans was to build a house in Cocoa, which was completed in late 2016. My actual retirement date was not until late May 2017, but we would come over as often as we could often staying the entire weekend. It was during one of these weekend visits that we chose to attend FBCMI. We formally joined the church in July of last year and have been attending ever since.

FBCMI: What is your ministry?
We both like to teach and serve, but our true ministry is missions. Thus far, we have BadgersInHondurasbeen on well over 40 mission trips to over 20 countries.

FBCMI: How did God lead you to this ministry?
Arad, Romania was the destination of our first mission journey in 1997. That experience
changed our view of the world, and of God and how He is working all around us. Fast forward to September 2002, in which I was ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just a couple of years later, I was called to a mega church in West Florida as pastor of college and singles, and then took on missions as well in late 2006. During the subsequent 11 years, the Lord used us both to train mission leaders and take scores of people on mission journeys whether local, within the state or nation, or to countries far away.

FBCMI: Can you share a story about how God is using this ministry to impact your life and others?
I may have retired as the pastor of missions from the church in West Florida, but our passion for missions and helping others go has not diminished at all. We now have the joy of serving on the Missions Communication and Promotion Team at our church, and also being mission mobilizers as needed within the Brevard Baptist Association of 57 churches. Donna and I have the privilege of seeing men and women of all ages and stages of life step out in faith by joining a mission team, and then experiencing how the Lord will use them to impact the lives of others. What a joy!

FBCMI: What would you tell someone who is interested in serving at FBCMI?
Prayerfully consider how the Lord has uniquely gifted you and seek His guidance to reveal your area of passion. Then, step out and let both be known to the leadership of our church so they can help you get connected to start serving. The Bible is clear that all believers are to use the gifts they are given for the benefit of the body of Christ (“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them:” Romans 12:6a).

GIVING UPDATE

The total amount pledged towards the construction portion of the First Initiative was $2,299,883.  As of August 6th, $1,094,745 has been given ... 37.5% of the total 3-year commitment!  We praise God for his provision and the faithfulness of His people!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
  • We have executed the contract for renovation/construction with Doug Wilson Server-moveEnterprises.  This is the same contractor who built the sanctuary building.
  • The office move is complete!  The church offices are now located in the old Crossroads Building at 245 Magnolia Avenue.  A time of commemoration was held with the staff to remember the changed lives that God brought about through the old offices, and to pray for his blessings on the new offices.
  • The permit for the children's area renovation is pending, and we hope to start demolition in the space in the next 3 weeks.
  • The "Main Street Commons" addition plans and permit documents are nearly completed, and mechanical and plumbing designs are being finalized.  Please be in prayer regarding completion of the plans and subsequent permitting with the county.
  • As soon as we get permits approved for the parking lot and Commons addition, we will have a better understanding from the county and fire marshal about how Commemorationlong we will be able to meet in worship center during the construction of the additional space.  This will be our trigger to move to the gym during the transition.  We are a few weeks away from having the information we need to make this decision.
