Engaging the Nations Where We Live, Work, Learn and Play
Mark Wodka, Canaveral Port Ministries

The nations are coming to us!  Wherever we go in our community, if we are observant we will see men, women, even entire families that are clearly from another country.  What is their common need?  To feel welcomed, and for many, to be introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  During this session, Mark will provide practical ideas on how to connect with and engage people from other countries right where you live, work, learn and play.

How You Can Be Involved in Missions Right Now
Sundy Goodnight, Florida Baptist Children’s Homes

Many individuals, couples, and families have a desire to serve others through missions, but don’t know the steps to take to do so.  Sundy Goodnight, Director of Church Relations, will share mission and ministry ideas and opportunities available through the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes and their campuses located throughout our state.

Overcoming Barriers to Engaging Other Cultures with the Gospel
C**** *., Southeast Asia

How do we bridge the gap between what we believe as Christians and the beliefs of those who are Muslim?  Are there common links that can be used to initiate conversation?  These are great questions with many more to be asked and answered.  Join C**** in this very practical discussion of how to begin a gospel conversation with a Muslim.

So, You Want to Go to Cuba … New Opportunities in a Post-Castro Period
Mike Hoffman, Associational Mission Strategist, Brevard Baptist Association

While only 90 miles off the Florida coast, Cuba continues to be a much misunderstood and mysterious country.  Through a long-standing relationship with the two Baptist conventions in Cuba, and with religious visas provided by the Cuban government, teams are able to work with Cuban churches in the areas of evangelism, teaching and training, and construction assistance.  Mike will provide details about the culture, the people and their needs, and upcoming projects and opportunities to join a team.  The goal of our relationship with the Baptist churches in Cuba is to provide appropriate assistance as needed and directed; we do not provide on-going funds or support to churches or individuals.

Reclaiming Haiti for the Glory of Christ
Greg and Maria Shepherd, RTS Missions, Haiti

Haiti is described as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere; 2 out of 3 people live on an average of $2.00 per day.  How do we Americans help this country without hurting its future?  Greg and Maria, along with their son, Caleb, moved to Haiti permanently about 4 years ago.  As a family, they committed their lives and their work to the furtherance of the gospel with a focus on reaching the next generation for Christ.  Hear their story and be inspired to join them in their work by becoming a member of a short-term mission team.  Families with children age 8 and up are welcome to serve with the Shepherds in Haiti.

Families Serving Together
Dr. Charles Baxley, International Mission Board

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”  This well known verse from Proverbs 22:6 directs parents to instill in their children the conduct and life choices that are pleasing to the Lord.  Serving together as a family is a great way to demonstrate love for the Lord and others while providing biblical direction for the children.  "Charles", along with his wife and three children serve together as international missionaries.  Their journey in serving the Lord will be an inspiration to all parents, and grandparents, too.

The Path to Being a True Disciple
Dr. Steve Kern, Good News In Action

In Matthew 28:19, we are commanded to “Go and make disciples…”.  Steve Kern and his leadership team have taken this command to heart and developed a proven process that helps men and women become true disciples of Jesus Christ.  During this session, Steve will share in easy to understand terms how each of us can grow as a disciple and help others do the same.
